Due to its simple weft insertion system and high strength of warp materials, water jet looms have high speed and high requirements on the main drive motor: high starting torque and reverse torque for rapid braking. It is necessary to consider the frequent starting inrush current caused by frequent forward and reverse jogging. Due to the unique working environment (high humidity in the working environment), a very high insulation performance and sealing performance are proposed for the motor. The motor of the water jet loom must have a higher starting torque to meet the initial beating-up force of the loom and avoid weaving defects. In order to satisfy the rapid braking of the loom, the rotor of the motor must be able to withstand a large torque.


The control system of the water jet loom is another important part. The control system of the water jet loom has roughly the same functions as other shuttleless looms, mainly to ensure the normal operation of the loom, complete the quick start of the water jet loom, positioning braking, fault detection, electronic weft storage, and electronic warp let-off , Electronic winding and other tasks. The control system uses the CPU as the control center to check the preparation, operation, forward rotation, reverse rotation, stop, positioning braking and various faults of the loom (mainly including: warp over tension, left and right selvedge, front and rear waste, fixed length , Weft detection, etc.), after analysis and processing, control by actuators.


Water jet looms generally use monolithic electromagnetic brakes. It is composed of a moving piece (metal friction material) and a static piece (non-metallic friction material on the surface and a coil embedded inside). Its structure is simple and easy to use. Electromagnetic brakes are divided into two types: single coil and double coil according to the type of coil. In order to ensure sufficient starting torque and working torque of the water jet loom, the main motor belt must have sufficient tension. Usually, a direct pressure type tension meter is used for belt tension detection.
In the 1980s, water jet looms were mainly used for weaving nylon spinning and polyester plain spinning. With the rapid development of synthetic fiber simulation silk processing technology, the limitation of varieties has been greatly broken. With the increase in market demand, the application of water jet looms has become more and more extensive.
